I have wondered can the WTS really get away with remarking on a verse in a talk , but not follow up with a study article, and the faithful just believe a date with out questioning/studying it?
I keep thinking he has a date to believe in and it may never occur to him he's not seeing it writing or explained. But it's there in his mind & accepted.

after some time of silently watching the "conspiracy" threads thriving on jwn with a mix of amusement, consternation, boredom and irritation, i suddenly felt like stepping back and trying to think about the phenomenon in its historical development.. of course, any attempt to understanding requires a measure of simplification, and the pattern that is emerging in my mind is only intuitive and merely offered for the sake of discussion.. it seems to me that the "anti-conformist" flock of "open minds" who can "think outside the box" and "see through the agendas of the establishment" have been going places over the decades.
in the 70s they were into (mostly left-wing) political activism.
then the english-speaking "enlightened" crowd parted ways from their continental european counterpart (which tended to vanish into the general society) and moved on either to christian fundamentalism (especially of the eschatological, dispensationalist kind) or to "new age" spirituality (both being nebulas and networks rather than "organisations").
Have you read "The Fourth Turning" , by Strauss & Howe?
They have some interesting thoughts/research on understanding these changes.
They are not conspiracy theorists but historians. They write about historical archetypes, the different generations and how their archetype plays out to influence them & history.The book has put modern events in perspective for me.
They also have a new book "Millenials Rising " I have not read yet.

My experience was they used them to bribe you to a book study. Only the study conductors gave them out to make sure you were active. I was refused one at a watchtower study, told I needed to go to book study as that was Jehovah's arraingement.They would not let my husband bring one home , only BS conductor could witness it. I was no longer attending BS due to cognative disonance induced athsma, but still in good standing.
CONTROL , CONTROL, CONTROL, their excuse was to weed out weak ones who might carry the card then backslide & give a bad witness by taking blood. Lack of attendence = lack of faith.
This was just one of their reasonings that got me out.
Disfellowshipping was a relief and cure for athsma, too.

the 2008 service reports shows that jehovah's witnesses preached in 236 lands.
the preaching work is banned in communist countries such as china(which have over 1.3 billion people) and korea.
there might be underground preaching work but not enough to even cause a concern.. my question: how does the wts explain what will happen to all these people who will never hear their message?
I was told by an elder in our congregation, who had just returned from a trip to Bethel in the mid 90's, the society had placed a million "My Book of
Bible Stories" in China, so the children could learn about western civilization in school. The Chinese were pleased to have the materials free for
their schools, this was how our contributions were being spent. All those children would tell what they where learning in school to their families and
that is how they would all get a witness. It was a sure sign the end would arrive soon. He stressed how smart the brothers at Bethel were to
negotiate this! It was because they could produce books in Chinese and provide so many copies at once. No one else could do this. Jehovah was
speeding things up since we were so close to the end. I'll quit now before we are all sick.

this is for the christians on the site really,but all comments are welcome.. jesus said that "no one comes to the father,except through me", my understanding of those words is that we need to ask jesus to be our saviour,to accept,or adopt, us as sons and daughters,and thus become our eternal father,and thus we become brothers and sisters of christ and hence can have a relationship with almighty god.. i may have missed something so please add or correct me,but if the above is in essence correct no jdub of the " great crowd" can have a relationship with god,as they are not christs brothers.. this leads me on to ask,if you do believe as i do (as above) what can i do about the lords evening meal,i do not feel at present that i can go to any church,i will not go to a k.h,and i am alone in my belief as to family,so have any of you celebrated it alone?
and if so isn't that really weird?.
